HILLSONG TEAM HONOUR CODE

HILLSONG TEAM HONOUR CODE

Hillsong Church is committed to serving God and the community. All church attendees are encouraged to serve, however, we believe that those who serve have a responsibility to do so with an attitude that values the dignity of people and behaviour that is pleasing to God. Being on Team is an honour and it is a responsibility that takes commitment. Jesus modelled the ideal attitude towards serving in John 13:3-14.

Pastors, staff and volunteers are called to share the vision, values and mission of Hillsong Church and together we are pursuing lives that honour God and one another through a commitment to integrity and a duty of care to all people.

We implement the shared vision, values and mission of Hillsong Church by:
1) Living By Christian Standards
2) Safeguarding Confidential Information
3) Speaking Up to report concerns or misconduct

1) Living By Christian Standards (1 Tim 3:1-13)

As a Hillsong Team member I:

- Acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him.
- Am committed to growing in relationship with God through reading the Bible, prayer, active attendance at church and authentic Christ-centred relationships.
- Am committed to growing in my leadership gift as a ‘purpose-filled Jesus follower’ through attendance at DNA and/or team training events.
- Am committed to serve and will fulfil responsibilities with an attitude that reflects the fruit of the spirit. (Galatians 5:22).
- Will act in the best interests of those I serve, especially those who are vulnerable.
- Am committed to living with integrity in accordance with the principles of the Bible. I understand that my lifestyle is a model for all people.
- Will live with sexual purity, understanding that sexuality is a gift from God and is to be exercised only within the bounds of marriage as defined by Jesus (Matthew 19:4-6).
- Will avoid the use of offensive language (ie. vulgarities, sexual connotations and racial or religious slurs).
- Will exercise caution with all potentially addictive behaviours and/or harmful substances.
- Will refrain from using illicit substances.
- Will use caution when initiating or receiving physical contact with those they serve, including gestures of comfort which can be unwanted or misinterpreted.

- Will communicate with integrity. This includes the use of electronic communication and social media, both of which will be used wisely and appropriately.
- Will not take property belonging to others, including intellectual property (copyright).
- Will acknowledge when I do not possess the required skill set in a situation and seek help from Church Leaders. This includes helping those who are survivors of abuse or require professional evaluation.
- Will disclose professional or personal activities, situations or relationships, also known as “conflicts of interest,” that may suggest the appearance of unfairness, impropriety or bias.
- Commit to integrity in my financial dealings.
- Am committed to the vision and mission of Hillsong Church and will support the pastors, staff, team members and church congregation through a spirit of unity and honour. I commit to working collaboratively to fulfil the church’s mission.
